Fall Foliage Photography Workshop Info!!

wordpress3Well, if you have been waiting for the details on the Fall Foliage Photography Workshop led by Wilson Reynolds, then wait no more.  Here’s the scoop…

The workshop will be from Friday, October 30th through Sunday, November 1st.  The detailed schedule is as follows –

Friday, October 30th – 7pm-10pm at the Tremont Outdoor Resort Activities Center – Come by to meet your instructors and fellow photogs with whom you will be spending the weekend.  We will have an overview of the weekend’s program, material handouts, as well as a short slide presentation.  And what gathering would be complete without snacks??  We’ll also cover safety instructions and collect all necessary waivers and “official” paperwork at this time.

Saturday, October 31st – 9am – 1pm – Water and Woods – wordpress2

Have you ever wondered how to make water look like silk in your photographs?  Well, that’s just one thing you’ll learn in this segment.  Wilson has spent a lot of time traversing the Smokies photographing the water, woods, and the wildlife, so he’s not only going to be talking about techniques, but he’ll also show you to some of his favorite spots.

1pm-3pm Lunch break on your own – There are many great restaurants in Townsend or Gatlinburg, depending upon where we are in the Park.  Of course, you are also welcome to pack your own picnic if you would like.

3pm-7pmCades Cove Wildlife –   We will meet back up after lunch to head to one of the most popular spots in the Smokies and photograph the big three – whitetail deer, eastern wild turkey, and black bear in their natural environment.  We will visit the oak flats and ridges in search of these animals as they feast on the Autumn mast crop of acorns.

7pm-9pm – Dinner break on your own.  Take a break from your camera (and instructor) while you enjoy a relaxed dinner at one of Townsend’s local restaurants.

wordpress19pm – Take a visual tour with Wilson as he travels throughout our great country in search of our indigenous wildlife species.  This will be held in either the Activities Center at Tremont Outdoor Resort or the outdoor pavilion depending upon the weather.

Sunday, November 1st – WEATHER AND CONDITIONS PERMITTING – Anyone who wants to meet can slip out for an early bird excursion to Mt. LeConte or Clingman’s Dome in search of morning frost on the mountain.  Gotta get up early!  We leave the Activities Center at 6:30am and return at 8:30am.

9am-noon – Rich Mountain Road – This is a great venue for classic landscape shots and fall foliage contrasted against rhododendron and mountain laurel.

Noon-2pm – lunch on your own

2pm-4pm – Back at the Tremont Activities Center, we will review some of your images with correction recommendations, printing tips and secrets, file size manipulation for various purposes, i.e. facebook, flickr , email, and HD.  After this will be the session windup.

For this particular workshop, we recommend that all participants have a DSLR camera.  You do not need to have an advanced knowledge of photography.  Other recommended (but not required) equipment is as follows – a tripod, a cable release, a wide angle and a telephoto lens, and circular polarizer.  If you have a laptop and a thumbdrive, please bring them with you as well.

You can register online by sending an email to info@tremontcamp.com with number of people attending with a brief description of equipment and basic photographic knowledge.  The price for this two day seminar is $119 per person unless you are a guest of Tremont Outdoor Resort for 2 nights or more during this particular weekend, then your cost is $19 per person to cover print material costs.  Workshop registration fees are payable at check-in or at the Friday evening meet and greet.  Also, all participants will receive a coupon valued at $50 for custom wide format prints from Advantage Color Labs.  The workshop will be limited to 20 participants and you must provide your own camera equipment and transportation.
